Being a typical Singaporean, my phone is attached to me 24/7. So I use my Nokia's Notes function- as easy as typing a text message to myself. When I get back to ThinkingRock I enter everything into the Collect function and empty my Notes inbox. I did try writing things down, but I felt it was too much of a hassle to carry a pen and notebook around and have to look for a surface to write on every time I have to enter something. It was also a waste of paper since I couldn't 'empty' my inbox.

It has come to a point where if I notice that if a certain thought's been going round and round in my head, or if I wake up, stand at the sink brushing my teeth and realise that my head is buzzing with reminders and to-do's, I take it as a warning sign. So I grab my phone and start doing a braindump.

No problem... Unfortunately I timed this all rather poorly, as this and last week are pretty much the busiest of the year for me.

I just want to make sure I give these things the proper level of attention, and until Friday I simply can't do that!

Thanks!

@Jess: Yep, Cal always uncaps the good stuff!

@Ted: The sound-isolating headphones are a nice touch. It seems like you've got a nice (and mobile!) "in the zone" environment.

I oversimplified my own sauce a bit in this post: all told I also work with Gmail, Jott, and a "Someday/Maybe.txt" file.

My combination of software and realware comprises:

- Basecamp.com. I use it to manage all my projects, including life to-dos (like scheduling vacations, etc).
- Gmail. Since I spend a lot of time at work, I send reminders to myself via email.
- Cowon A3 media player with sound isolating headphones. This great little unit keeps me informed (via podcasts) entertained, and insulated from distractions so I can stay "in the zone" all day.
- Trusty IBM T42 laptop and extended battery. Goes with me everywhere, does everything I want.

That quote on happiness is pretty fantastic. Cal never fails to have great posts and great quotes.

My special sauce involves Google Calendar and a steno pad that goes with me everywhere.

I do know when to use an apostrophe. That doesn't mean I don't occasionally make a mistake and happen to miss it.

But, fortunately, I am also looking for a copy editor as I am aware that I often miss such errors in my own writing unless I look at it few days later.

I would never, ever, claim that this blog is without such errors. It is. But I recognize that particular weakness in my work and while I work to improve I will try to compensate for my weakness by getting help.

But thank you for pointing out the mistake. Very helpful.

While this is a funny article, it doesn't point out the fact that going to College/University will not correct all of these problems. The following is a direct quote from the assigned question for the paper I'm writing for sociology. It was written by a Sociology professor at my college who holds a PhD...

"1/ While referring to ....the text book (self, personality, looking glass self, me....pg. 57-58), examine how the various elements of your personal self identity effect your expectations of how others should act within relationships, such as friendships, a marriage or a partnership. What characteristic traits would you be looking for in a person you would like to build a relationship with, ,and why. (State your perspective and then back it up with literature).."

I use ScribeFire plugin for Firefox, even though I'm a regular Safari user like you. In fact, this is the only reason I have Firefox installed.

It does most of what you need including HTML editing decent rich text and is super easy to get started.
