I’ve been getting some odd questions regarding the Tumblr blog, and why I’m using it, what’s in it, etc. So I thought I’d discuss it again briefly.
Essentially, I see a lot on any given day that may be useful to you guys. The best content you can be sure I’ll most likely discuss directly, but much of what I see I don’t find the need to discuss - either because I don’t have anything to add, or it’s only slightly useful, or I’m just not interested. So, when I find things that fit one of the above catagories, I toss it into the Tumblr blog. Some I’ll come back to, some I won’t. I don’t like blogs that are just links to other sites for the bulk of their content, so I try not to do that here. Don’t get me wrong, if someone finds something useful by all means link to it - but there are many blogs that end up an elaborate bookmark list, and I don’t want Scholastici.us to become that.
When I write an article, I’m challenging myself to think outside the box to solve problems many of us have, and then share the solution. That process is beneficial to me, and hopefully you - and if I’m just posting links to other peoples works (and thats it) then I’m failing us both.
I will, of course, continue to link to good content. No doubt about it, it’s important and people who do good work deserve to have their work recognized (which in the blog world means other sites linking to it, trackbacks, etc). I just want to avoid the situation where 80% of the content here is someone else’s.
Regarding the Tumblr blog, I’ll also drop in the occasional quick note or comment, or blog idea that I’m not quite ready to develop yet, so keep that in mind as well.
I hope that clears up some of the confusion.
Thanks for reading.
